Hoboken Police Sergeant Test Postponed Indefinitely

The 2010/2011 Police Sergeant Examination which was scheduled to be administered in January 2012 has been postponed.

The Sergeant’s exam must be postponed indefinitely, due to the ongoing negotiations between the State of New Jersey and the United States Department of Justice regarding an acceptable revised test plan under the proposed Consent Decree. A new Orientation Guide outlining any changes to the testing process will be issued approximately 6 to 8 weeks before a new test date.

Promotional lists which have already been extended to a fourth year and are scheduled to expire in March 2012, by statute, cannot be extended beyond a fourth year. Any promotional appointments made in these jurisdictions after March 2012 must be made on a provisional basis, pending the outcome of the new testing process. Promotional lists which will reach their three year limit in March 2012 will be extended to a fourth year or until a new eligible list is available.
