Time for a Complete Accounting of the 916 Garden Street Automated Garage

Just when you thought it was safe to park your car in the 916 Garden Street Automated Garage, the facility experienced major operating problems over this past weekend.

Just two weeks ago, Hoboken forcibly ejected the Robotic management staff from the 916 Garden Street facility and immediately replaced them with a new vendor, Israel-based Unitronics.  Although cooler heads prevailed when the City and the former operators of the Garden Street automated garage reached a settlement that would keep the 314-space garage in business, operational problems at the facility continue to inconvenience area resident.

Donald Pellicano, former Parking Authority Chairman, pulls no punches with respect to the automated garage project and places the blame on Robotic.

In June, 2002, Hoboken Mayor David Roberts initiated an investigation by the New Jersey State Attorney General's Office into the 916 Garden Street Automated Garage.   

Four years later, Hoboken has yet to provide the results of that investigation or a complete cost accounting of the 916 Garden Street Automated Garage project. 

The project was several million dollars over-budget in construction costs and unanticipated operating expenses thus far have exceeded well over another million plus dollars.
